Blur 21: the exhibition, mostra sui Blur a Londra

Oasis o Blur? Quanti di voi si sono sentiti rivolgere questa domanda. Già, perché tra le due band brit-pop non scorre buon sangue. Gli anni ’90 si sono presentati come un vero e proprio campo di combattimento in cui Blur e Oasis chiedevano ai loro fan di schierarsi, lanciandosi intanto insulti e frecciatine. Il culmine nel 1995, quando i due singoli Country house e Roll with it uscirono contemporaneamente. I Blur quella volta vinsero con 274.000 copie contro 216.000. Ma il terzo millennio parla chiaro e i fratelli Gallagher si aggiudicano il campo mainstrem.
Nel 1998 Damon Albarn diventa il personaggio dei Gorillaz. Nel 2009 lo scioglimento degli Oasis.
Ed oggi? Se per gli Oasis sembra non esserci più speranza, i Blur hanno invece suonato alla cerimonia di chiusura delle Olimpiadi 2012 di Londra: un grande onore. Il 30 luglio 2012 è anche uscito un nuovo cofanetto Blur 21: The Box contenente rarità e pezzi inediti.
Noi siamo state nel Regno Unito alla mostra Blur 21: The Exhibitionche celebra i ventun anni di carriera della band. I Blur tornano così nel cuore di Londra, nella zona Shoredich a due passi dalla multiculturale Brick Lane, celebrati da settanta fotografie scattate da fotografi come Pennie Smith, Kevin Cummins, Paul Postle e Tom Sheehan.
La mostra si articola in tre stanze, in una location essenziale, con entrata gratuita. Oltre le bellissime foto, c’è uno schermo che mostra i video dei concerti, una teca con gli awards della band e delle cuffie per ascoltare i pezzi del gruppo.

Blur vs Oasis. It’s almost seventeen years since Blur and Oasis went head to head in the chart battle of Britpop. In 1995 Country House by Blur beat Roll With It by Oasis; but, in the third millennium, Oasis obscured Blur.
On 28 August 2009, following a fight between the Gallaghers in a backstage area the group’s manager announced the cancellation of their concert along with the cancellation of the European tour and a statement that the group does not exist anymore.
Indeed Blur played as part of the Mayor of London’s Olympic closing ceremony celebrations. Blur 21: The Box has been released on 30th July 2012 to celebrate twenty one years since the release of Blur debut album Leisure in 1991.
We have been visited Blur 21: The Exhibition in London (near Brick Lane), a collection of over 70 images of Blur from legendary music photographers, designers and artists including Pennie Smith, Kevin Cummins, Paul Postle and Tom Sheehan. The location is basic, there were three rooms with beautiful photos, a case with awards, some headphones to listen to the music and a screen to watch the lives.
