Chelsea Hotel @Tieffe Teatro Menotti, Milano 29 marzo 2012

FEMME FATALE, Lou Reed (Velvet Underground)
I WANNA BE YOUR BOYFRIEND,  Tommy Ramone
CHELSEA HOTEL No. 2, Leonard Cohen
MY WAY, Paul Anka
LA VIE EN ROSE,  Edith Piaf
ALBERGO AD ORE, Herbert Pagani
DANCING BAREFOOT, Patti Smith
BLOWING IN THE WIND, Bob Dylan
IL VINO, Piero Ciampi e Gianni Marchetti
I CAN’T STOP FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOU, autori George Weiss, Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore
IO CONFESSO, La Crus
Leonard Choen: “Well never mind, /we are ugly but we have the music”

Chelsea hotel on the 23rd street, Manhattan, was the place where true life and art reverse their role: alcohol, drugs and sex night and day.
At Chelsea hotel sleepped Bob Dylan and Janis Joplin; Dylan Thomas died.
Edith Piaf waited in vain Marcel Cerdan’s return; Sid Vicious loved and killed Nancy there.
In room 822 stayed Madonna who was looking for fame; near the elevator Leonard Cohen met Janis Joplin and made love with her.
Dee Dee Ramones had been there dragged by Sid Vicious’s spirit, and after in Chelsea Horror Hotel wrote his metaphysics experiences.
We have been at Teatro Menotti in Milan to see a play at the edge of  a reading and a musical performance about the famous hotel.
Massimo Cotto narrator, Mauro Ermanno Giovanardi voice e Matteo Curallo guitar and piano.
After each Cotto’s monologue, Giovanardi started to sing with his strong and deep voice the notes of the most important songs related to Chelsea Hotel.
This play took us back in time, in a hotel that was the house and the shelter for all the artists that found in art the only way of escape.
This was the outline:
FEMME FATALE, Lou Reed (Velvet Underground)
I WANNA BE YOUR BOYFRIEND,  Tommy Ramone
CHELSEA HOTEL No. 2, Leonard Cohen
MY WAY, Paul Anka
LA VIE EN ROSE,  Edith Piaf
ALBERGO AD ORE, Herbert Pagani
